A Rambling Wanderer’s Prayer While Hunkered Down in the Midst of the Coronavirus

Dear Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus & Holy Spirit

Thank you for Your love for me. Thank you for your perfect peace during this time of utter unrest that has swept across the country.

You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. Isaiah 26:3

Lord I ask, in the midst of all the other requests you are hearing today, that you be kind enough to settle your peace on and in your children around the world.

Let them see the workings of your hand amid the chaos that surround so many of them as they do their work to bring comfort to those who are sick and dying.

Lord please give strength and protection to the construction workers who are diving in and creating hospitals out of stadiums, hotels, and conference centers. Pour out an overwhelming amount of patience and grace as they work in a world unlike any we’ve ever experienced before.

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9

To the moms and dads who once climbed in their rigs to go to work each day, give them patience, new eyes that they might see their families in a whole new way. Give them peace and comfort in these trying times so that they can instill in their children a hope, a truth, and a love for you Lord.

I thank you for this time of seclusion. A time that has allowed me to rest in your love. A time where I can be assured that you are near. You are here.

Anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his. Hebrews 4:10

Thank you for protecting my parents and for creating me to be their child. Thank you for watching over the new parents I’ve been blessed to have in my life. Thank you for watching over all my siblings, those I have by blood as well as those I have by love.

My children Lord! Thank you for my children. I know you love them even more than I do. Thank you for creating each one to be a part of my life. Thank you for guiding them along their way. Thank you that they have peace in their souls, loving hearts and a determination that they will get through this season and come out on the other side as being better for it.

Thank you for my friends who continue to do what they each do best in the middle of a world infected by a minute virus that has the ability to rock our world in a matter of days. Thank you that you are our rock we can stand on, find strength in and rest against. Lord thank you for the guidance you are providing to all our nations leaders.

Thank you that through it all, through the fear, through the sickness, through the panic, through the anxiety, through the deaths that are happening at a terrible rate, through it all you are here. And although it is extremely hard to understand why something like this happens, I know this is an amazing time of reflection, a time of love, a time of honesty, a time of determination, a time of healing, a time of much needed rest, a time of prayer, a time of appreciation, a time of helping neighbors, a time of reconciliation, a time of surrender, a time of preparedness, a time of forgiveness, a time of recognition to the new heroes….truck drivers, grocery clerks, business owners who are revamping their facilities to make medical equipment, contractors who drop everything to create new hospitals and restaurant owners serving those in need.

This is also a time to …appreciate is not a big enough statement…our doctors, nurses and other medical staff who are working so diligently trying to save lives at the very risk of their own.

A brand new world is on the other side of this virus. I know it without a doubt. A kinder world. A world more in awe of You than ever before.

Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory. We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearths with his love. Romans 5: 1-5

Thank you for being here. Helping your people grieve over what they have lost, and ready to help guide them into their future.

May we all realize daily how wonderful it is in the shadow of your wings.

Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me, for in you I take refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed. Psalms 57:1

Lord thank you for my husband. Thank you that he loves you and seeks you daily. Thank you for this time we have together to grow our love, to walk out this journey side by side. Please continue to give him strength, wisdom and guidance as we walk out the calling you have placed on our lives. Please keep him safe and healthy as the virus closes in around us.

Lord thank you for the pastors and spiritual leaders who are helping others to see the peace and love you freely offer to everyone. Help them convey to those they meet an overwhelming sense of peace and security that only comes from knowing You.

Lord thank you for loving your people and showering peace, determination and love down on them as we walk through this season.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. Hebrews 12:1
