Ready or not the 2017 total eclipse of the sun is just a week away….where will you be to experience it all? How about heading over to Umatilla’s Marina Park on Sunday just to make sure you get a good spot to view it from. Plenty will be happening to keep you entertained and there are still some RV and tent spaces available (call 541-922-3939). Besides…traffic on the roads just might be atrocious, so you might as well just stop in at Umatilla and call it a day….a good day. One with plenty of new friends, some Blue Moon beer, pulled pork sandwiches and free live music. Monday morning you can wake up to cinnamon rolls and coffee just in time to relax and experience the total eclipse of the sun. What better way to enjoy this once or twice in a lifetime event?
About a month or so ago the Umatilla Chamber of Commerce thought it would be a great idea to have a tailgate party…a big tailgate party. So they invited a couple of their favorite bands to come out and play, asked a hometown caterer to create some delicious food, ordered some Pepsi and some beer and before they knew it they had a tailgate party on their hands….Umatilla’s Path of ‘Almost’ Totality Tailgate Party.
What’s a tailgate party without a few games of volleyball. Be sure to pull a team together, or join a team at the party. There is sure to be some great volleyball action right next to the Blue Moon Beer Garden.
Of course there will be plenty of souvenir “Eclipse Coins” to buy and can be used for all your purchases throughout the party, and don’t forget to take a few home in your pocket to share with you kids and grandchildren….proof that you experienced Umatilla’s Path of ‘Almost’ Totality Tailgate Party, on the day before the historical 2017 total eclipse of the sun.
All the fun starts at 11 a.m. Sunday morning. Music will be playing while Amber from GG’s Smokehouse Catering is serving up some delicious pulled pork sandwiches complete with her own special bar-b-que sauce. Hamburgers and hot dogs and Pepsi will be available as well.
The Blue Moon Beer Garden will open at 1 p.m. and will serve beer until 11 p.m.
Limited Edition T-Shirts will be available on site.
The Outsiders will be playing in the afternoon and Blue Tattoo will be playing in the evening. Between these two bands Pamela Thomas Martin will be entertaining the crowd.
There are also some great Facebook contest prizes that will be given away including an overnight stay in Astoria, thanks to the Astoria/Warrenton Chamber of Commerce, as well as a night stay in the Tower at Wildhorse Resort and Casino compliments of Wildhorse. A ticket package from the Pendleton Round-Up and Happy Canyon will also be given away during the evening. Be sure to check out the Umatilla Chamber of Commerce and Vistor Centers Facebook page to enter for your chance to win. All winners must be present at Umatilla’s Path of ‘Almost’ Totality Tailgate Party.
